The vibrant palette and clashing layers represent a desi casual glamour so warmly familiar, it feels like an alternative perspective - an invitation to be who you are.

Desi, creative, and individualistic, are words Kunaal Kyhaan uses to describe the Koy Toy Boy. The founder of upstart menswear label KOYTOY, is himself a prolific and multidisciplinary creative who embodies that particular vision. Not restricting his practice to a singular medium, his approach as designer is incontrovertibly as unrestrictive and boundaryless.

Having studied and graduated as an architectural design student at Parsons, Kyhaan founded studioHAUS, a design firm, in 2012. “I wanted to train myself in design at the largest scale, and then work backwards”, he recalls. Furniture and fashion design to him then, are evidently effortless extensions of a personal world-building.

For his new collection entitled ‘FANBOY’, Kyhaan keeps true to that identity. Assembling a group of multi hyphenate creatives he finds a kindred spirit in to model for the campaign, the stage was set in Kensington Gardens to revel in the raw and regal hedonistic expression of “modern maharajas”.

The collection itself is a stylistic maelstrom, opulent and striking in texture and colour. The vibrant palette and clashing layers represent a desi casual glamour so warmly familiar, it feels like an alternative perspective - an invitation to be who you are. Kyhaan’s curatorial approach to his creative practice is only set to expand through the upcoming launch of a flagship store in Gurgaon which, needless to say, he designed himself.
